SYNOPSIS

After more than ten years, Benedikt Stirner (Markus Böker) returns to his parents’ mountain farm in Bavaria at the request of his mother (Gertrud Roll) because his father is dying. But the old Stirner (Kurt Weinzierl) refuses to see his former favorite son: He will not and cannot forgive him for the death of his youngest, who crashed while climbing with Benedikt. After the accident, for which he blamed himself, Benedikt left not only his home, but also his great love Johanna (Victoria Mayer). The young woman had long waited in vain for his return and is now engaged to Benedikt’s ambitious brother Anton (Sebastian Bezzel). Anton, who always felt set back by his father, does not like his brother’s return at all, fearing that the older man will not only deprive him of his father’s meager favors, but also steal Johanna away from him. He has turned the Stirner farm into a modern, successful business, but his father refuses to give him the recognition he deserves. He has also had to fight for Johanna’s love for a long time. When Benedikt and Johanna meet in a lonely mountain hut, they are close again, just as they were before. Stirred up by the hoped-for reconciliation with his father and the overpowering feelings for Johanna, Benedikt decides to leave so as not to cause any more mischief. But when Anton learns of the intimate meeting, all his pent-up rage erupts. For once he wants to show it to the older man… and a surprising truth comes to light.
