Synopsis

Finally, everything in Bella’s life is going according to plan: she opens her own physiotherapist’s practice and has finally found a partner again in the police officer Sebastian, with whom she feels loved and secure. But how does she tell her ex-husband Martin, who still lives with Bella and Sebastian, and who is just getting to know the harsh reality of an unemployed man over 50? Bella is about to tell Martin the truth when she receives the tragic news that mutual friends of theirs have died in an accident.
At the time, Bella and Martin had taken on the sponsorship of their now 2-year-old son Tom – and are confronted from one moment to the next with the question of whether they can take responsibility for the child. So they become parents again, even though they have just divorced. Sebastian doesn’t find this at all funny; after all, he and Bella wanted to start over. But Bella can’t give up the responsibility.
But all this is harder than they thought: For one thing, Bella and Martin have to find their way in their reversed roles – she works and earns money, while he is at home taking care of the child -. Sebastian is anything but thrilled about feeling like a third wheel and sees his relationship with Bella seriously threatened by Tom and Martin. And the strict Mrs. Marquardt from the Youth Welfare Office observes everything with a wary eye and bursts into the most bizarre situations again and again, which make her very doubtful about Bella’s and Martin’s suitability as godparents. Bella tries to remove all obstacles in her pragmatic way to give little Tom a new home.
