SYNOPSIS

Anne works as a swimming coach in a suburb of Hanover and lives a life far below her means. At least that’s the feeling her mother Inge has been giving her for years: Inge is never really satisfied with her daughters Anne and Miriam. When, on Inge’s seventieth birthday, Anne takes an old childhood memento out of the cellar, her mother suddenly flips out for no reason. Since that day, Anne has been haunted by nightmares. She dreams of water: something is pulling her down. A dark secret holds her captive. She has already gone through a psychological crisis once and had to give up her swimming career at that time.
She tries more and more restlessly to push her niece Juli to high performance in her swimming training. She gets into an argument with her sister Miriam about this. The family structure threatens to break apart. When Inge attempts suicide, Anne begins to investigate. She finds out that she does not know an important part of her life …
