SYNOPSIS
Harald Westphal has found it: The perfect apartment where they can all live together: He, his girlfriend Sabine, his two daughters Floh (15) and Marla (19), their friend Isko, and the two babies, Lena and Ylvie – one of his and Sabine’s, one of Marla and Isko’s. His family looks a bit skeptical when the Bundeswehr truck with its moving boxes stops in the colorful multicultural neighborhood in the middle of Berlin, but Harald is sure: It’s going to be great!
But even before the last boxes are unpacked, the Westphals clash with the youth gang around 15-year-old Mustafa, the stairwell is defaced and Flea is knocked down by an unknown assailant. And then Harald even observes how Mustafa and his father, the greengrocer Yussuf, smuggle a carpet into their apartment in a cloak-and-dagger operation. A carpet with feet sticking out of it…
Harald has nothing against other cultures, quite the opposite: after his many years of service for the Bundeswehr, he has great respect for their traditions – but still, there’s something wrong with this Afghan cucumber king Yussuf. That’s what his instincts tell him. And if anyone is predestined to find out what’s going on in the house and bring order back to the neighborhood, it’s Harald, who is happy with any distraction now that he’s been rocking babies as a “real man” for more than a year. When he then also observes a tender rapprochement between his daughter Floh and his main suspect, Mustafa, Harald vows that he will find evidence to get Floh away from Mustafa and make the neighborhood safe again. Supported by his former Bundeswehr colleague Renate, better known as “Renate Granate”, Harald sets up his command center and secretly starts the reconnaissance mission. Chaos is inevitable – after all, Harald is still Harald…
