SYNOPSIS
Jannes is an incorrigible Berlin original. He wields the scepter in a run-down backyard with charm and snark. The residents of “Potze” 117 are a multicultural hodgepodge of quirky, lovable characters that can only be found in a dilapidated Berlin tenement. Jannes has dreamed of a trip to the Oktoberfest in Munich since childhood.
He has a video collection of all the Oktoberfest tastings of the last 20 years, and when things get really bad in life – for example, when his ex-wife Rita, from whom he once rescued himself over the Wall from the East, chases him with old IOUs – he literally “batten down the hatches” and devotes himself to his video films. Hilde, the owner of a laundry with an unofficial bar in the front building, is the only one who helps him out of the mess. She hopes that he will eventually realize that she is the right match for him and not the pimped-out caretaker who only uses him as a willing and cheap laborer. The happy ending is not unexpected, but unexpected, and the long-awaited trip to the Oktoberfest finally seems to become a reality.
