SYNOPSIS
Clemens Filzhofer (Walter Kreye) returns as if transformed from a vacation in Cuba, which his children gave him as a present for his seventieth birthday. The widower has brought the reason for his new zest for life with him: the spirited Esperanza (Isabelle Redfern). He tells his astonished family that they want to get married soon. There’s no question of retirement and a retirement home – Clemens is starting his second spring! His son Peter (Johann von Bülow) and daughter Martina (Annika Kuhl) are not very enthusiastic. Peter finally wants to take over the company, Martina doesn’t want an almost peer as her father’s wife. Secretly, relatives and acquaintances had expected him to lead the unmarried Agnes (Lisa Kreuzer) to the altar. After all, the deceased mother’s best friend has long been part of the family. Although she is also close to Clemens’ heart, he only has eyes for Esperanza. In record time, the shrewd doer sets the course for the dream wedding that his children want to prevent. They do not trust the bride’s intentions and fear for the family property. While Clemens generously gives gifts, Esperanza thinks a lot about her own family, who until now lived off her income as a tour guide in Havana. While on the phone with someone in Cuba, granddaughter Sabrina (Ella-Maria Gollmer) overhears something that might fit into her father’s bad hunch. The teenager herself also has a secret that she has never been able to share with anyone.
