SYNOPSIS
After incurring the wrath of a Berlin clan boss, an ex-police officer and her adopted daughter with a criminal record end up in the witness protection program in the Bavarian baroque city of Passau. Here they dare to make a new start – even with each other, and under new names: Frederike (Marie Leuenberger) and Mia Bader (Nadja Sabersky). No one in Passau knows about their past – Frederike’s as a former BKA specialist and Mia’s as a drug dealer with a criminal record. The duo from rough Berlin feels completely alienated in beautiful Passau. Mia works as a saleswoman in a bakery, her mother in a blacksmith’s shop. The camouflage works until private detective Ferdinand Zankl (Michael Ostrowski) becomes aware of Frederike and begins to investigate her past. Is the melancholic Austrian as harmless as he pretends to be? Or does he pose a threat? Is Zankl friend or foe?
